Everyone who's?

Teams:

No

Equipment:

Chairs

Helps everyone get to know each other. This activity can also help students with developing questions and speaking in front of the class.

Students sit on chairs in a circle with one student standing in the middle.

Student in the middle says “Everyone who....” (Ending the sentence with something like “wearing red” “has a dog” “takes biology”)

All students who fit that criteria must stand up and swap places. The person in the middle must try to steal one of their seats. So the questions need to require Yes or No answers.

The student  left standing repeats the process.

Variation

  • Questions could be based around a book the class is reading. For example: Who thinks Scrooge was mean?

  • The questions can be topic based statements. Stay seated if you think it's true, move if you think it's false. Statements could be discussed at the end.

NOTE

It is a good idea to discuss movement between seats as students can get pushy. Also, where they can move to. Moving into a chair next to you is too easy. You could say they need to move to the other side of the circle or cannot sit in a seat that is within 3 on either side of them.
